The roads become far more treacherous when the winter weather arrives. A very common issue that can occur in the winter when you don't always see what you're driving over, is a tire blowout. This can occur any time of year, but the snow-covered roads increase your risk. You can attempt to avoid a tire blowout by doing the following:
  • Make sure that your tire pressure is at the recommended level. You don't want to over-inflate your tires, but too little air is a danger as well.
  • The amount of tread that you have left on your tires is very important. You should have plenty of tread left to grip the road, but also enough to prevent a blowout from taking place.
  • Avoid potholes and big dips in the road as much as you can. It can be hard in the winter, but pay attention as best you can.
